WCF spreads festive cheer to animal charities

HUNGER won’t be on the menu this Christmas Day at animal charities supported WCF who have supplied dogs across the county with festive treat boxes.

WCF Pet & Equestrian is supporting a special festive initiative to provide lunch boxes from its Lakes Heritage Line to charities supported by its stores.

Each store is proudly linked to a specific charity, offering support throughout the year, and this Christmas, Cockermouth, Carlisle, and Ulverston are going the extra mile with an additional gift of Christmas Day lunches for the animals.

The initiative builds on the success of WCF’s ongoing charity work, which includes fundraising events, pre-filled donation bags available for customers to purchase, and a three per cent contribution from loyalty card redemptions. These efforts are tailored by each store to meet the unique needs of their chosen charity.

“It’s really important to us that we do everything we can to support local charities, especially at Christmas,” said Jade Earley, General Manager of WCF Pet & Equestrian. “No dog should go hungry, and we’re delighted to provide Christmas lunches as an extra way to show our appreciation for the incredible work these charities do year-round.”

Liz Fell, Fundraising Officer at Oak Tree Animals’ Charity, supported by the Carlisle store, said: “It’s brilliant to have the support of a local business such as WCF Pet & Equestrian. Their commitment to our cause allows us to continue providing a safe place for animals in need.”

Lauren Pickthall, Animal Rehoming Manager at Animal Concern, said: “We are delighted by the wonderful support from the WCF Cockermouth team and very excited to offer the dogs in our care a special Christmas Day lunch. Roxy has already sniffed the lunches out in the storeroom, so they must smell extra tasty!”

In Ulverston, the WCF team has been working with Animal Welfare Furness as pet poverty is a known issue in the area. The festive feasts will be delivered directly to the families most in need, offering a pet food bank.

Emma Fawcus, Charity Manager at Animal Welfare, said: “It has been fantastic to be charity-partnered with WCF Ulverston this year. The team and customers have been a great support to the work we do, and their festive campaign, ‘No dog should go hungry this Christmas’, fits in wonderfully with our own aspirations of donating pet food to those in need this Christmas. The Christmas dinner boxes will allow us to reach more people in our community with dogs that may have empty bowls without our help.”

This year’s Christmas Day lunches will feature the Lakes Heritage ‘Festive Feast’, a premium own-brand dog food made by WCF Pet & Equestrian in the UK. Available in two Christmas-inspired flavours—Turkey and Cranberry and Lamb and Mint—this range embodies the company’s commitment to quality and care. The Lakes Heritage line was developed to bring joy and nourishment to dogs and is a perfect addition to this festive initiative.
